Rewards of Teaching

Rewards of Teaching

The rewards and importance of teaching is something that may be expressed differently by each instructor.  I value education and believe that education is truly the key to success.  In my experience, I have frequently noticed that the person with the highest level of education and most experience is deemed most qualified for the position; therefore emphasizing that education is they key to success.  I believe that teaching is rewarding when you see the light bulb turn on, and the student finally gets the concept.  Teaching is also rewarding because it is such a good feeling to see someone succeed at something they are good at.  I love being able to boost the self-esteem of others by seeing them succeed and commending them for a job well done; all the while knowing, I was part of this – I made a difference in someone’s life!  Teaching, much like nursing, is about making a difference in someone’s life – at least, that is my opinion.  I enjoy making a difference in the lives of others and taking pride in a job well done; that is why I became a nurse in the first place.  I believe that teaching and nursing are closely related and share many of the same attitudes, values and beliefs.  The rewards of teaching and the rewards of nursing are great; I can only hope that my career will lead me in the way of continuing to be a part of these rewarding experiences, because I truly love what I am doing and the differences that I make on a daily basis (some big and some small); a career in the field of teaching and nursing does not feel like work at all – it is what I enjoy and what I hope to do for years to come.
